Veterans High School, being built on Piney Grove Road near Old Perry Road south of Kathleen, is “desperately needed” to relieve overcrowding at the systems’ other high schools, said Superintendent David Carpenter.

The system’s total project budget for Veterans High, including furniture, equipment and the road through the property, is $58.5 million, Thublin said. The facility is scheduled to be completed in June 2010.

Veterans High School was a 522,000 suare foot project for Middle Georgia Concrete Conctructors that included foundations, slab-on-grade, slab-on-metal-deck and retaining walls.
